Huawei unveils PC operating system, first computer arriving on May 19

“The Chinese company has developed and upgraded more than 150 applications for the supporting ecosystem and has also integrated more than two thousand universal applications.”

Huawei has introduced the first edition of its Harmony operating system designed for personal computers. The first computer to use it will be presented on May 19. In addition to PCs, Harmony is also available for smartphones, tablets, smart TVs, wearable devices…

HarmonyOS Base includes the HarmonyOS kernel, ARK Engine, the StarShield security architecture, ArkTS, ArkUI, and DevEco. Huawei has developed and upgraded more than 150 apps for the supporting ecosystem and has integrated over two thousand universal applications. This also includes a productivity software suite.

Additionally, HarmonyOS can support more than 1,000 external devices, according to the Chinese company. This includes 800 standard peripheral devices and 20 categories (keyboards, computer mice, monitors, and more). An additional 250+ non-standard devices (printers, tablets, scanners…) have qualified for compatibility certification.
